Confirmation

What is Confirmation?

Confirmation is a three year program for junior high students, preparing them to publicly affirm their faith.

Participants attend weekly classes on Wednesday evenings during the school year; complete sermon reports; help lead worship as acolytes, ushers, or readers; volunteer in service to others; and enjoy fellowship opportunities.

First year students receive a comprehensive overview of the Bible and what it means to live as a faithful Lutheran Christian. Second year students engage in an overview of the Old and New Testaments. Third year students examine Luther’s Small Catechism and history of the church, with emphasis on the history of the Reformation, and the application of faith to daily living.

After fulfilling the requirements of the program, confirmands affirm their faith in worship and are received as full members of the congregation.
